Ex-Gurkha soldiers stand watch over the Cheapside Hoard - one of London’s hidden (and most valuable) treasures The Cheapside Hoard: London’s Lost Jewels is the Museum of London’s latest blockbuster exhibition. It is already proving a massive hit with visitors – 25,000 of whom have been to see this display in its first weeks of opening. This exquisite collection of priceless Elizabethan and Stuart jewelry was discovered by workmen demolishing a cellar in Cheapside - in the heart City of London - in 1912. This treasure is priceless. And it is being guarded under the watchful eye of Gurkha Security Services (GSS) (Farnborough). The Museum of London’s Head of Security Mr Steve Cox said: “The Cheapside Hoard is London’s sleeping beauty. This is the first time in over 100 years that it’s gone on display in its entirety. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this treasure and it’s our job to protect it for the people of London. “Gurkha Security Services provides security guards in the exhibition and entrances as well as a CCTV operation, which monitors the entire area. Our decision to select GSS for this exhibition was based on its professionalism and high standards of service. The Gurkhas are polite and gentle with our visitors. They are also smart and agile and they don’t miss a thing.” We are extremely proud to have been awarded such an important contract - and to work for such a highly esteemed organisation.
