As implied in the name, Gurkha Security Services was established in 2005 by ex-Gurkhas who served in the British Army. To this day our senior leadership managers are a team of ex-Gurkhas, with over 150 years of combined comprehensive military experience. Our security officers are also highly qualified and competent, with the Gurkhas ethos ingrained in them through the company culture as well as military experience. History of the Gurkhas

The Gurkhas are a group of soldiers from Nepal who have a long and storied history of military service. They have been serving in the British Army for over 200 years, and are renowned for their bravery, discipline, and loyalty.

During the 19th and early 20th centuries, Gurkhas fought in several conflicts around the world, including the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the Anglo-Afghan Wars, and the Boxer Rebellion in China. They also served in both World Wars, earning a reputation as some of the most ferocious and effective soldiers on the battlefield.

Gurkhas are famed for carrying a khukuri. It is the national weapon of Nepal, but it is also used as a work tool in the Hills. Each Gurkha carries two khukuris, one for every-day use and one for ceremonial purposes. Their famous war cry, “Ayo Gorkhali” translates as “The Gurkhas are here”, their motto, ‘Kaphar hunnu bhanda marnu ramro’ means, ‘It is better to die than to live like a coward.
